To become an accredited Traffic Controller in Queensland‚ you must complete an approved traffic controller training course, delivered by a Department of Transport and Main Roads approved training provider.

This course provides training for those who are required to control traffic with a stop-slow bat. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to perform traffic control safely for coworkers and the public.

On successful completion of this course including the practical component, you will be required to complete the F4115 - Traffic Controller Accreditation Application (download here) and additional documentation to apply for accreditation as a Traffic Controller with the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Learning Methods:

Part 1 - In House Training
  • Classroom participation
  • Written assessment and practical exercise
A Statement of Attendance is issued after successful completion of the Theory component of the course.

Part 2 - Practical Training (20 hours onsite placement)
  • One on one mentoring by an experienced traffic controller on live worksite
  • Participants are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours practical experience before being assessed
  • Final onsite assessment conducted by a qualified assessor
