PRE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS

INTRO TO TRAFFIC CONTROL & INTRO TO CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

// COURSE OVERVIEW

Civil Train currently offers two pre-employment programs with linkages to industry employers, providing both training and employment outcomes.

The two programs are:

  • INTRO 2 TRAFFIC CONTROL
  • INTRO 2 CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

The programs provide skills and experiences to individuals who are new entrants to industry to further build their job readiness and prepare them to  Transition into a career in civil construction or traffic control.

The program aims to:

  • Expose students to the civil construction or traffic control industry
  • Provide access to valuable industry-led structured workplace learning
  • Link job ready candidates with industry employers and vacancies

As part of this program you will undertake a RII20120 Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation, Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (white card) and for those taking the Traffic Control pathway, Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat
course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this course however participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instructions. 

Students wishing to participate in the Intro to Civil Construction and Intro to Traffic Control programs must:

  • Hold a current drivers licence and have reliable transport (Learners Licence is not acceptable)
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a
    temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.
DELIVERY METHODOLOGY - Intro to Traffic

This course is delivered over two weeks on site at the Civil Construction Training Centre at Eight Mile Plains with a work placement for you to attain your 20 hours onsite experience which is required to complete the Traffic Control accreditation.

You will complete the following:

CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
RIIVEH201E- Operate a light vehicle
RIIENV201E – Identify and assess environmental and heritage concerns
RIICOM201E – Communicate in the workplace
RIISAM201E -Handle resources and infrastructure materials and safely dispose of nontoxic materials
RIIRIS201E- Conduct local risk control
RIICCM201E – Carry out measurements and calculations
RIIWHS205E- Control traffic with stop-slow bat
RIIWHS201E – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures

DELIVERY METHODOLOGY - Intro to Civil

FUNDING AND FEES

Participants may be eligible to receive funding to supplement the cost of training. 

The Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation (RII20120) is funded under the Queensland Government Certificate 3 Guarantee Program. Student  co-contribution fees under the Queensland Government Certificate 3 Guarantee Program are payable at the time of enrolment:

  • For eligible non-concessional participants: $54.00 for the full qualification or $6.00 per unit of competency.
  • For eligible concessional participants: $27.00 for the full qualification or $3.00 per unit of competency.

To be eligible to take part in the program, you must:

  • Be aged 15 years or above, and no longer at school
  • Hold a current drivers licence and have reliable transport
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency; and
  • Not hold, or be enrolled in, a certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundations skills training).

If you are not eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee funding, the cost of this course as a fee for service is $3,500.00

Traffic Control – $4,391.00 GST Inclusive (assumes ineligible for funding/fee for service)
Civil Construction – $3,808.00 GST Inclusive (assumes ineligible for funding/fee for service)
