Trade Ready

WHAT IS THE TRADE READY PROGRAM?

The Trade Ready program provides additional skills and experiences to individuals who are new entrants to industry (displaced from their current employment or looking for a new career) or who have completed a Certificate I in Construction or Cert II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation Certificate to further build their job readiness and prepare them to transition into a career in building and construction.

This program aims to:

  • Further job readiness and work preparation.
  • Provide green/life skills to participants.
  • Further develop their skills through inclusion of selected construction short courses to improve employability.
  • Access to valuable industry-led work experience.

HOW WILL THE PROGRAM BE DELIVERED?

As part of the program participants will engage in a 4 week training program to gain the essential knowledge and skills to enter the civil construction industry, including life skills training to help with their transition.  On successful completion of training they will receive formal qualifications and complete a 3 week work placement (unpaid work experience) with a civil construction employer.

At the completion of the 7 week program, they will then be presented to employers as a job ready candidate for vacancies on upcoming projects.

The specific parts of the program are broken down below:
Part 1 – Participants will receive training for your construction industry white card (CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).

Part 2 – Participants will receive training in Certificate II Resources Infrastructure Work Preparation funded under the Queensland Governments Certificate 3 Guarantee Program.

Part 3 – Participants will receive skill set training, life skills training and work placement funded under the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Trade Ready Program.

Part 4 – Participants will be presented to industry employers for consideration for current and upcoming job opportunities on civil construction jobs.

Part 1, 2 & 3, delivered over the first three weeks, Part 4 soft skills in Week 4, part 4 Job placement being the final 3 weeks.
